Riot For Romance
Learning To Unburden Myself
February 14, 2025
This long-play debut by Riot For Romance. “Learning to Unburden Myself” offers a dynamic blend of post-punk energy and shoegaze-inspired, swirling soundscapes featuring members formerly of Further Seems Forever, Underoath, and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. The album includes their previously released cover of “Karma Police” and their original “This Way Comes (Something Wicked),” both of which have been featured on streaming editorial playlists and have garnered success internationally on radio and press. Fresh songs like “For Ages,” alongside these first-time-pressed tracks, promise infectious melodies and emotionally charged riffs that are sure to captivate.
Following the success of their 2022 self-titled EP, Riot For Romance began the thematic approach of storytelling by releasing parts of the LP digitally throughout 2024 in chapters that have culminated in this new release on vinyl. The album delves into themes of self-reflection, change, and romantic tribulations, blending melancholic and energetic moods in an ironic dance of angst and fun. Recorded across 2023 and 2024, the project was mixed by Ben Etter, known for his work with Franz Ferdinand, Deerhunter, Erasure, and Luxury, and mastered by Adam Boose, whose credits include At The Drive-In, Brandtson, Zao, and Pedro the Lion.
