Ritual Bronze is a new band from Cleveland, Ohio, featuring Ryan Hardwick, frontman of hardcore band Last Gasp, and their self-titled debut arrives as one of the most emotionally honest records to come out of the city in recent memory. Rooted in the spirit of early-millennium emo, think On the Might of Princes, The Casket Lottery, and Appleseed Cast, the band channels the aching melodicism of that era without ever sounding like a nostalgic exercise. This feels lived-in because it is.
Recorded across two sessions and finished in early 2026, the EP wrestles with the weight of real life: addiction and substance abuse, heartbreak, the slow and strange process of aging out of punk rock, and the creeping dread of watching authoritarianism reshape the world around you. These aren't easy subjects, but Ritual Bronze handles them with the kind of vulnerability that makes hard songs feel like a hand on the shoulder.
The standout track "Brave Little Bird" was written about watching a son grow up, helping him fill out high school forms and realizing college, then leaving home, is only a few years away. It's a quietly devastating piece of songwriting that sits at the heart of what this record is: deeply human, unhurried, and completely unafraid.
