Black Vinyl
The debut EP that introduced Silversun Pickups to the world, originally released July 26, 2005 on Dangerbird Records and now back in print on standard black vinyl.
Recorded across Clearlake Audio, Sunset Sound, and the band's Silver Lake home base known as "The Ship," Pikul captures the LA quartet at their loudest and most exploratory: fuzzed-out guitars, Nikki Monninger's loping basslines, Brian Aubert's tortured-melodic vocals, and the woozy, shoegaze-leaning songwriting that would define everything that followed. "Kissing Families" remains the calling card, with cellist Tanya Haden adding the song's signature ache, but deep cuts like "Creation Lake" and "Booksmart Devil" are where the band's range first showed itself.
Produced by Rod Cervera and mastered at Capitol Mastering.
For fans of: Smashing Pumpkins, My Bloody Valentine, Autolux, Earlimart
