The self-titled debut from Willis & Son, the Chicago-based father-son duo, arrives as something genuinely its own: rooted in the soil of folk and alt-country, yet unbeholden to either. Ten songs that feel like a document of real life, recorded with honesty and care.
This album was born out of relationship, the kind that takes work, vulnerability, and time. As Glenn Wiley Willis (2Minute Minor, XREDLINEX) puts it: “My Dad and I embarked on a musical journey together and a lot of heartstrings and guitar strings were pulled in the process. This helped rebuild and strengthen our relationship as Father & Son.” That spirit lives in every track.
Across ten songs, Willis & Son navigate the terrain of heartbreak and lost love, new belonging, faith, hope, and the quiet but profound experience of starting over. It’s a record about the full arc of being human, and the unexpected healing that can happen when you sit down and make something with someone you love.
Brought to life at Captive Portal Studio with engineer Zach Bridier, and assembled with help from collaborators Toryn, Justin of Ghost Bunnies, and family members James Preston (keyboards) and Ashley Willis (cover design), Willis & Son is a family affair in the truest sense.
